Rick Jeanneret leaves in middle of Sabres broadcast

Many fans who were watching the broadcast of the Buffalo Sabres versus the Anaheim Ducks were caught off guard when Rob Ray the on-ice commentator, began to do play-by-play. The move was unexpected for not only the viewers but seem to throw Ray off as he continued to call the game. Instantly, social media became a buzz as the longtime hall of fame broadcaster was nowhere to be found.  After a timeout on the ice and a long commercial break the broadcast resumed with Ray returning to his standard color commentary; however, Brian Duff subbed in for Jeanneret.

After the dust settled on a 3-0 shutout for the Sabres and post-game interviews were being conducted, speculation was being made as to the health of Rick Jeanneret. It has now been confirmed that Jeanneret was taken to the hospital during the broadcast.  In not only a sign of respect but also a sign of solidarity from hockey families; teams and fans all over are sending tweets and posts for Rick Jeanneret.

Official Word Sports is sending prayers and well wishes to the GREATEST play-by-play announcer in the NHL – RJ (Rick Jeanneret)!!!
